Josh Tonsfeldt was born in 1979 and lives in Kingston, NY. Working
between sculpture, video, and photography, the artist engages media
and technology in an intimate, open-ended reframing of nature and
daily life. From the deconstruction of flat screen displays into a
painting-adjacent vocabulary, to dreamy cinematic meditations, site-
responsive installations, to gossamer drawings made with
spiderwebs, Tonsfeldt’s omnivorous practice balances the matter-of-
fact and the transcendent. Most recently, he has solo exhibitions at
Broadway Gallery, New York in 2022 and Kerry Schuss Gallery, New
York in 2019. His work is in the collection of public and private
institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Parrish
Museum, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Perez Museum in Miami.
